At Baltus Collection we regard the creation of a piece of furniture as a work of art.
Our products are supremely avant-garde in their design, and always distinguished by the unmistakeable character that only an artist of the calibre of Pedro Peña could imprint on a piece of furniture.
Baltus Collection has been fortunate to be able to work in collaboration with artist Javier Martín on its latest collection. Javier has created an exclusive series of paintings to blend harmoniously with our furniture, creating perfectly well-balanced spaces.
Pedro Peña
Jaén (Spain) 1950
"White is not a colour, it is an infinity of them..."
His background as an artist taught Pedro Peña to capture the subtleties of light and to portray it on canvas, and this same vision is translated to his furniture designs, where warmth and the need to blend with the surroundings are fundamental.
He has the ability to imbue even the coldest tones with a touch of serenity.
Large rooms also need furniture of a certain size to make the elegance of the space a place to live.
A tireless designer and a lover of aesthetics and art, Pedro Peña stamps his strong personality on this collection.
Javier Martín
Ceuta (Spain) 1985
Javier Martín, a self-taught artist from the age of 7, uses his technique to communicate with us. Employing an eclectic mix of collage, digital prints, screen-printing and a variety of other techniques, he creates truly versatile and original works of art.
His creations show a clear influence of current trends, and his sensitivity when it comes to combining colour, textures and photographs, makes him a unique and innovative artist in the field of modern art.
The variety in the shapes he creates speaks volumes about the artist himself and his youth. To try and understand what drives him to create is like trying to understand what keeps a fire burning.
The carefully selected ranges of colours in his work are combined with direct brush strokes and an energy in his images which strike the canvas as paintings that evoke a fusion of influences from Rauschenberg to the current cover of Vogue.
This is Javier Martín. An true Art engine in constant combustion. A never-ending state of creation. Always wanting more¿ fighting against time to keep inventing.
Javier Martín has no timetable. For him there are only special moments, moments which shine for their splendour in contrast to those of quiet reflection.
